Library Reads June 2014

The June 2014 LibraryReads list is now available. The list comprises of the top ten fiction books of the month as voted for by librarians. So have a look and get an early start on your summer reading list! From Victorian era romance to sci-fi/fantasy short stories, there is something here for everyone to enjoy. 

Top of the list is Emma Healey's "Elizabeth is Missing": 

"Maude sinks into a confusing world in this gripping psychological mystery written in the voice of an aging woman with Alzheimer's. She can't remember what she's doing or where she is, but she is obsessed with one thought--her good friend Elizabeth is missing. Book groups will enjoy this satisfying and entertaining read!"

Library silent zone from Monday 12th May until end of examinations...

From Monday 12th May until the end of the exams all areas of the library with the exception of the group study area on the mezzanine will be SILENT study space until exams have finished.

Please respect the rights of others to concentrate and study while in the library. We appreciate your co-operation in this and wish you every success in your exams.

Free Information Skills Seminar 11th June at ITT...


You are invited to a one day seminar on Information Skills, Research and Enhancing the Student Learning Experience in ITT on Wednesday 11th June  2014.

This seminar is one of a series of seminars sponsored by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.

What is the theme?

This one day seminar is focused on developing students’ information and research skills particularly those transitioning from 2nd level to 3rd level. Presentations will focus on the value of information skills to student learning and a range of speakers will outline some best practice strategies and resources. The seminar will include testimonials from students / graduates on how such skills have benefited their academic development & employment / societal progression.

Who should attend?

The seminar will be of interest to education professionals with an interest in improving student learning and information literacy practice.
